When do you make the food?
We make all products to order, so it will be at the freshest possible state when we ship it to you.
Does the packet have anything other than dry ingredients?
Yes! Each product is developed from a homemade recipe and includes everything you need -- vegetables, seasoning, spices -- all pre-cooked and packaged for you!
So is it dehydrated?
Nope! Our products are completely fresh and preservative-free. We flash freeze the food as soon as we make it and keep it cold (in the fridge or freezer) at all times.
How long do they last?
Each product will stay fresh for 5-7 days in the fridge or for up to 3 months in the freezer. Stock up for those late nights or stressful days!
Are the packets shelf-stable?
No. All of our packets are filled with fresh ingredients so they are perishable. Your orders get to you in thermal mailers with (recyclable) ice packs in them, so they will be fine in room temperature for a few hours. We recommend putting your order in the refrigerator as soon as you receive them to keep them fresh!

Where do you ship?
Anywhere in the continental U.S. Once we ship, all orders will take 1-2 business days to deliver. You will receive an email notification once your order is shipped and delivered!
Where is the nutritional information?

Is your packaging eco-friendly?
Yes! Our product and shipping packaging is all recyclable or compostable.
Where do you ship?
We ship from our Seattle facility to all over the United States (except for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico).
Can I apply a promo code to my order after purchasing?
Congratulations, you got a promotion for Buttermilk! Unfortunately, we can't retroactively apply promo codes to an order after you've purchased. However, you can use the promo for future orders (if it applies)!
How long does it take to get my order?
Most orders ship the next business day, but it can take up to 1-2 weeks for us to make your food if we are unusually backed up in orders. Once we ship your order (you'll get an email notification!), it will take up to 2 business days to get to you.
I need my order to come on a certain date or time. How can I schedule this?
Buttermilk is unable to guarantee time of delivery, as this is all subject to the local carrier. Most carriers will deliver packages anytime between 8am-8pm. If you are placing an order for a time-sensitive event, we recommend placing your order early. Our products should be frozen or refrigerated upon arrival to preserve freshness. In some instances due to weather or other uncontrollable events, we may have your product arrive earlier than requested to ensure that it arrives in good condition.
While there are many things we do to mitigate the risk of shipping fresh food around the country, there are unfortunately some things outside of our control like the weather and transit delays once the package is in the hands of USPS. As such, the shipping guidelines published on this website are not guarantees of a shipping or arrival date.
How do I change the shipping information on my order after it's been placed?
Customers are responsible for checking that all shipping information is correct before submitting an order as well as in their order confirmation email. If your order has not shipped out yet and you need to make a change, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. This may add an additional 1-2 day delay to your order processing. Buttermilk is not responsible for delays in transit caused by address modification.
My address was unable to receive the order. What now?
Once we ship an order with USPS, we are unable to fix delivery issues as they are out of our control. If your address was unable to receive the order for some reason, please email us at email@example.com with an alternative address to ship to and we'll be happy to resend your order!
We cannot resend orders to the same address to avoid similar delivery issues from happening. We cannot refund orders in this circumstance.
I got my order! Now what?
Woohoo, time for some delicious meals! You can:
- Get cooking immediately (our recommendation)
- Put your order in the fridge if you want to wait a few days (use it within one week)
- Put it in the freezer for up to 3 months if you want to wait even longer.
When taking the packet out of the freezer, put it in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours or in cold water for 30 minutes to defrost the ingredients. Then, you can make it within 2-3 days (as long as you keep it refrigerated) + your meal will be totally fresh!
I had an issue with my order :( Can I get a return or refund?
Since our products are made of fresh food + perishable, we aren't able to accept returns. We understand that not everyone will love our products, but if you don't like our food due to personal taste preference we cannot offer a refund. If there is a damaged product or your order isn't sent to you as described, we will absolutely address it. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
